A Loving Church
Why should I become a member of Orchard Crest?

At Orchard Crest we recognize the need for formal membership and ask you to commit to membership for 4 reasons:

1.  A Biblical Reason: Christ is committed to the church.

“…Christ loved the church, and he gave his life for it”. Ephesians 5:25

2.  A Cultural Reason: It is an antidote to our society.

We live in an age where very few want to be committed to anything. This attitude has even produced a generation of “church shoppers and hoppers”. Membership swims against the current of America’s “consumer religion”. It is an unselfish decision. Commitment always builds character.

3.  A Practical Reason: It defines who can be counted on.

Every team must have a roster. Every school must have an enrollment. Every business has a payroll. Every army has an enlistment. Even our country takes a census and requires voter registration. Membership identifies our family.

4.  A Personal Reason: It produces spiritual growth.

The New Testament places a major emphasis on the need for Christians to be accountable to each other for spiritual growth. You cannot be accountable when you’re not committed to any specific church family.

How can I join Orchard Crest?

Upon completion of Identifying 101 (New Members Orientation) held once a quarter, any person may be received into membership of Orchard Crest Baptist Church in the following 3 ways:

1.  Baptism: A public profession of your faith in Jesus Christ, followed by the biblical ordinance of baptism by immersion. This is typically but not limited to new believers in Jesus Christ.

2.  Letter: A request is made to have your letter membership transferred from another Southern Baptist Church of which you were previously a member.

3.  Statement: If you are a believer who is coming from another tradition or denomination, we will gladly accept you for membership on the basis of your testimony in Jesus Christ. If you have never been baptized by immersion we ask that you do so in agreement with our belief and tradition.
